Uniqso: My first try with circle lenses

I've been meaning to try coloured contacts for a few years now, but never really had the courage to do so. Since moving to Japan I noticed that I've become more open to try new things and take a step out of my comfort zone. I started wearing make up, felt free to do whatever I please to my hair, and wear cute over-sized sweaters.
P.S. My mom is not a big fan of my natural hair, but almost everyone I've met here loves my hair. So yay for me!
Anyways, back to the contacts. I received a pair of contacts from UNIQSO about a week ago and finally decided to try them out instead of just stare at the box.

At first, the contacts felt like a foreign object in my eye but after about 30 seconds I remembered the familiar feeling of wearing contacts. Then I looked in the mirror and was shocked. I didn't look like me, I was scared at first but immediately that fear of the unknown turned in excitement and giddiness. My eyes were larger, lighter and o-so-cool. It's no wonder some people constantly wear contacts. I am now a believer in coloured contacts and it's all thanks to Uniqso.
The colour I got is grey but almost looks a little blue in my photos.  I can't wait to order another pair! I think I might step it up and even try green.
What do you guys think of me trying green?

Have you guys ever tried coloured contacts? If so, how'd you like them?

Glossybox: September Edition

I really liked this month's box as it included a good variety of products.
I'm not gonna lie, but after seeing Canada's September Glossybox I'm a little green with envy.
You can check a Canadian Glossybox at Blogityblog

Here's what I got:
bareMinerals Sample kit
I'm a big fan of bareMinerals! Although this sample is quite a few shades too light for me I think I may still try it as a highlighter or give it away in a gift bag.
Burt's Bees Hand salve
How can you not like Burt's bees?
Korres Natural Samples
- Brighening cream
-Jasmine shower gel
-Basil lemon shower gel
Meete Acne cream
Tocca Eau de parfum

Look how cute the mini Kabuki brush is!!

Overall I'm quite happy with this month's box and I look forward to more makeup samples in the future!

How was your Glossybox?

Review: Creer Beaute Love Darling

While putting together a beauty exchange package for a friend in the US, I stumbled upon the most adorable eyeliner. I couldn't walk out without buying one for myself.
This was a completely impulse buy and I didn't really need another eyeliner, but thought why not.
This is now my new favorite, smudge-proof eyeliner.
Let me introduce you to Creer Beaute Love Darling eyeliner.....

A closer look of the pointed applicator

After it's been rubbed a few times. The colour is still nice and black!
The packaging:
How can you not like the packaging? It's incredibly cute.
The price:
¥1260. Average for a Japanese drug store brand eyeliner.
My thoughts:
I really love this eyeliner. It's smudge-proof, and perfect for super hot, humid Japanese summers. Just put it on, wait about 15 seconds, and it's set. The colour applies smoothly and uniformly. The pointed applicator is perfect when it comes to creating lovely cat eyes.  After trying my first Creer Beaute product I really want to try others, including their mascara.

Keep you posted!

Face Masks Journey Part 1

I've really been getting into face masks lately as I miss the bi-monthly facial I use to have back home in Canada. Face masks in Japan are fairly inexpensive and the selection seems to be endless.
Here are my thoughts on a few I recently tried out.

BB Face Mask
2/pack for $1.00
With hyaluronic acid
"Hyaluronic acid plays an important role in tissue dehydration, lubrication and cellular function. It is produced in the body naturally, however, over time, as with all vitamins and nutrients in the body, the synthesis of Hyaluronic Acid diminishes. In fact, the half-life of Hyaluronic Acid in the cartilage is 2-3 weeks, and only 1 day in the skin."
soure
This mask was literally dripping with 'essence' when I took it out of the package, and the dripping didn't stop there. My shirt had a cute little wet splotch during my spa treatment. I also found this mask took a bit more effort to to put on my face as it was pretty adamant about sticking to itself.
Luckily for me, after 10 minutes of wearing the mask, the mailman rung the doorbell which compelled me to quickly remove my mask, so as not to scare him. After he left I was able to put the face mask on without much effort. For a dollarstore face mask it's actually quite nice. My face was left hydrated and brightened.
Repurchase? Yes.

Honey Luxe (ハニーリュクス)
$5.00/ea
I received this face mask in my July Glossybox. It was okay. It was only slightly moisturizing. I found that I still had to apply face cream after using it.
Repurchase? No.

Skin Food - Aloe Sheet Mask
10/box for $8.00
This was my first time trying out any Skin Food product. The fit was nice, but it had very small eyelets and an even smaller mouth opening, making it hard to have conversation or even take a sip of water while wearing the mask.  I found it to be very moisturizing and very affordable at under $1.00 each.
Repurchase? Yes.

The favorite
Koh Gen Do - Macro Vintage Essence Mask
6/box at $110.00
I received this mask a sample from a Koh Gen Do e-mook as seen here.
This mask was absolutely fabulous! It was insanely moisturizing and felt really nice on my skin. My face was left with a beautiful, healthy glow that felt supple to the touch.
This is by far my favorite mask but it also on the more expensive side at about $19 each.
Repurchase? Yes. Well hopefully, as a Christmas gift to myself.

Have you tried a sheet face mask? If so, what are your favorites?

Beauty Exchange: From The US

This is my first of many "big" swaps. The budget was higher and after a number of little swaps I've started to get a feeling for what I want and what I don't want in a beauty swap.
Tarah, from the US did not disappoint.
Things that I really wanted to try:
Real Technique brushes and Terressentials mud wash. Unfortunately for me, it seems Terresentials is not a easy thing to come by.

Here's some of what I got:
Eos lip balm in Strawberry Sorbet
Eos hand lotion in berry blossom
Real Techniques eye kit
-As you may remember I recently purchased another Real Techniques kit from iherb.com and absolutely love the brushes. To get $5 or $10 off of your order, use promotion code: NUW38.
Mac Kohl in blooz
Urban Decay 24hr eye liner in black
Benefit smoking eyes palette
Stila stylish in Seoul palette
Burt's Bees radiance eye cream
-I don't really use eye creams. I use to when I was younger but stopped after a year or two as I didn't really notice a difference. I'm a big fan of Burt's Bees so I'll give this a try.
27 wishes multi-purpose skin nurturing balm
Revlon make up eraser pen
-How interesting! Didn't even know this sort of thing existed. It'll be fun to try out!
And many, many more..

My absolute favorites from the box were:
NYX lip creams in Antwerp and Istanbul
- I'm not a big fan of lipsticks or colour on my lips for that matter, but these creams have converted me. They go on smoothly and don't leave my lips super shiny. I already have full lips and don't need to draw anymore attention to them. The colour goes on matte and creamy. I would strongly suggest that you apply lipbalm before or after you put on the NYX lipcreams as they are matte and might emphasize the dryness of your lips. I know some have complained about the smell but I actually quite like it and it doesn't bother me. It has a slightly sweet smell.

Istanbul and Antwerp

 Maybeline BB cream in deep
-Loooooove! Finally a BB cream that is suitable for my skin tone. I'm so happy she got this for me!
I'll have to do a comparison review when I get a chance. Trust me when I say this BB cream is bomb, well, at least it is for my skin tone.

Overall I'm really quite happy with this swap as Tarah introduced me to some of my new favorite items.

Have you done any swaps lately? If so, what new favorites have your discovered?
